Isopropylalcohol (IPA)

Isopropyl alcohol (> 99 %) for offset printing

Application

Isopropyl alcohol is a highly effective wetting-agent additive for the fountain solutions in sheet-fed and web offset printing.

Features and Benefits

  • Significant reduction of the surface tension in the fountain solution
  • Improved wetting of the printing plate and uniform film formation
  • Stabilises the ink and water balance and widens the printing process window
  • Cooling effect through evaporation – supports a constant roller temperature

Anwendung

Add to the fountain solution via the dosing or circulation unit of the press. Typical dosage 3 – 12 %, depending on press type, dampening system and printing conditions. Keep the amount used as low as possible (aim for IPA-reduced or -free printing), preferably in combination with a Hydrolith fountain solution concentrate. Observe VOC, safety and explosion-protection (Ex) requirements.
